7 Different Ways to Win a Point

Having different ways to win points can be a huge help in adding diversity to your game. Sometimes you just need to mix it up to keep your opponent on their toes. Sometimes you need to switch to a different strategy because your normal strategy isn’t working. Whatever the case, knowing some variations to your basic strategies will help you win more matches.

 1.    The Sneak Play – this is a great play against a steady baseliner who lets you back them up with a high drive to their weaker side.

2.    The Serve and Volley – this is a great play against a returner who is just getting the ball back and has gotten comfortable with it.

3.    The Drop Shot – Lob – this is a great play to use against slower players, players who are running out of gas, or who play deep behind the baseline.

4.    The Slice and Dice – This is a good play to throw in against a tall player or someone who doesn't like to bend their knees. And honestly, some players just don't handle slice well so this is a great play to throw in against them.

5.    The Rush and Crush – This is the opposing side of serve and volley, use this play when your opponent seems nervous on their serve, and you rip the return and come to the net. This can create further anxiety on the serve and potentially get you some double faults.

6.    The 1-2 Punch – This is the Big Serve Big Forehand play. This can be helpful when you have a lead in the game, but you are feeling some fatigue. Sometimes you just have to reach down and pull out that big shot to finish things.

7.    The No Pace Plan – This is not pushing! But some opponents cannot generate their own pace and so dialing down the mph’s can cause havoc with their timing.
